Saudi Arabia announces discovery of two new unconventional gas fields

Riyadh, Nov. 30 (BNA): Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, announced that Saudi Aramco has discovered two new unconventional natural gas fields in the Eastern Province, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The Awtad natural gas field was discovered southwest of the Ghawar field, 142 km southwest of Hofuf. Gas flows from the Awtad-108001 well at a rate of 10 million standard cubic feet per day, along with 740 barrels per day of condensate, and from the Awtad-100921 well at a rate of 16.9 million standard cubic feet per day, along with 165 barrels per day. of capacitors.

Prince Abdulaziz added that the Dahna unconventional gas field was discovered 230 km southwest of Dhahran. Gas flows from the Dahna 4 well at a rate of 8.1 million standard cubic feet per day, and from the Dahna well 370100 at a rate of 17.5 million standard cubic feet per day, along with 362 barrels per day of condensate.

He said that the importance of these discoveries lies in increasing the Kingdom’s reserves of natural gas, which would support the Kingdom’s strategies and help achieve the goals of the liquid fuel displacement program.

The Minister of Energy added that the discoveries confirm the wealth of natural resources at the disposal of the Kingdom.
