Khartoum, August 24 (BNA): The Saudi aid airlift has sent the first batch of food and shelter aid in excess of 100 tons to support those affected by torrential rains and floods in Sudan.

The support was sent by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action (KSrelief) in implementing the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The two planes were received by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Sudan, Ali bin Hassan Jaafar.
The ambassador said that the humanitarian aid comes to alleviate the suffering of those affected by torrential rains and floods in various Sudanese cities and governorates, noting that this reflects the strong bilateral relations.

He stressed that the Kingdom will always support the international humanitarian work for all those in need around the world.

This comes within the framework of Saudi Arabia’s continuous support for humanitarian and relief works and assistance to disadvantaged groups in all affected countries around the world.

The King Salman Relief Center handed over the third batch of relief aid to the National Disaster Management Authority in Pakistan, which included 10,000 food baskets weighing 950 tons loaded on 100 trucks, to be distributed to those affected by floods in Pakistan, benefiting 70,000 people.
The handover was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Republic of Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, and Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, Lieutenant-General Akhtar Nawaz.

“This project comes as a continuation of the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the people of Pakistan, under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, through the King Salman Center for Relief and Business.” Ambassador al-Maliki said.
