NPRA Undersecretary hails Interior Minister’s decision on family residency permit

Manama, February 21 (BNA) The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa today praised the directives of the Minister of Interior Major General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in reference to his decision. To grant entry visas and family residence permits to enhance family stability for Bahrainis.

The decision allows the NPRA to issue entry visas and family residence permits to the relatives of the wives of Bahraini men or the husbands of Bahraini women. According to the decision, the applicant must be Bahraini, foreigners must be of good conduct and have valid health insurance in Bahrain for the duration of the stay.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior said that the decision includes the mechanisms for applying for a permit through the Visa and Residence Department by filling out a form and attaching it with documents to prove the relationship.

The decision highlighted: “Whoever has obtained a residence permit in accordance with the provisions of this decision must leave the Kingdom of Bahrain and return to it during the validity period of the residence permit,” noting that the permit is canceled if the residence permit remains. It would harm the foreigner’s security, public order and national interests, or if it is proven that he obtained the permit by submitting false information or documents.

If the permit is canceled or terminated, foreigners are given 14 days to leave Bahrain. The directorate can extend the grace period until it clears all of its work or other arrangements.
