Animal Wealth Resources Undersecretary receives Malaysian ambassador

Manama, September 4 (BNA) Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture for Livestock Resources Dr. Khaled Ahmed Hassan met with Malaysian Ambassador to Bahrain Shazriel Zahran.


Dr. Khalid stressed that the ministry is moving forward in strengthening partnerships with local and international companies, in line with the directions of the Kingdom of Bahrain towards improving food security in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman. The meeting discussed the initiatives and programs that the affairs of livestock, agriculture and marine resources are working on, as part of the strategy to raise the rate of self-sufficiency. Efforts to develop the fish farming sector, which contribute to increasing the quantities of fish in the local market, were also reviewed.


In the field of agriculture, the meeting highlighted the steps taken to benefit from modern technologies in the agricultural sector and to work on introducing new value-added agricultural products.


In the livestock sector, discussions took place about programs aimed at achieving an abundance of red meat stocks.


The Undersecretary affirmed the ministry’s interest in benefiting from the successful experiences in Malaysia in the sectors of modern agriculture, livestock and fisheries, stressing keenness to exchange expertise and experiences for the benefit of both countries.


The ambassador expressed his country’s keenness to discuss various ways of cooperation and partnership with the Kingdom of Bahrain to support its efforts to achieve food security.
