NCC chief stresses media institutions’ professional role, contributions to Bahrain’s progress

Manama, May 3 (BNA) The CEO of the National Communication Center, Yousef Mohammed Al-Binkhaleel, emphasized the professional role played by Bahraini media institutions by responsibly carrying out their national tasks to contribute to the Kingdom’s progress. The march of progress, thanks to the unlimited support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the interest of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Al-Binkhaleel expressed his pride in the message of His Majesty King Hamad on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated all over the world on May 3 every year.

The Chairman of the Council stressed that the Bahraini press institutions succeeded in launching initiatives that keep pace with digital transformation, noting that what distinguishes the Bahraini press experience is the spirit of moral responsibility in practicing the profession, which motivates the national press and media to continue to play their role. In the process of national action as active partners in advancing the development process in the Kingdom.

The CEO of NCC indicated that the increasing participation of press and media organizations in the digital field has provided them with promising opportunities to expand their audience base, and thus increase the volume of media influence, a role that the media envisioned to be interacting with the requirements of digital technology for measures to maintain information flow and privacy.

He pointed out that Bahrain is proud of a set of legislation and administrative procedures that enable newspapers and media to play their role freely, responsibly and independently, adding that existing laws and legislation guarantee the protection of press and media institutions while practicing the profession from challenges, especially those related to cyber security, as well as protecting data, information and privacy .

Al-Binkhaleel added that freedom of the press is the cornerstone of the democratic process in the Kingdom, which embodies the royal’s continued support for the press, media institutions and workers in the Bahrain team.

He praised the role played by the press and media institutions in the Kingdom during the spread of the emerging coronavirus pandemic and the recovery phase, noting that they contributed to highlighting national goals and sustainable development projects.

The CEO of the National Communication Center explained that the Bahraini press and media institutions present a modern and advanced message through their national platforms and their commitment to the Kingdom’s identity and established values, which makes them keep pace with modern changes and modern media trends.

He stressed that everyone is proud of the march of the national press for its continuous contribution to the comprehensive development process and the future of the Kingdom and its people.
