Manama, May 3 (BNA) Parliament Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal praised the message of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which falls on the 3rd of this month.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed that His Majesty King Hamad is the main supporter of freedom of opinion and expression, the press and the media in Bahrain, pointing out that the outstanding achievements made by the Kingdom within the framework of His Majesty’s reform project and the comprehensive development process prove the correctness of the achievements. Royal support for responsible freedom of opinion and expression and the enlightening role of the press in building the nation and effective partnership in all national projects, initiatives and programmes.
Spokesman Zainal added that the main message of His Majesty the King established the principles and values of journalism and responsible media, noting that the royal praise of the press, the national media and its cadres is a medal of honor and an incentive to make efforts. To achieve the aspirations of the homeland and the citizen, and to put the higher national interests above the priorities of journalistic and media work.
She indicated that His Majesty the King praised the role played by the press and the national media in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic, accelerating the pace of recovery at all levels, and contributing to achieving the national development goals set by the government, led by His Royal Highness. The Crown Prince and the Prime Minister will motivate everyone to redouble their efforts to serve the country, within the Bahrain team, especially in consolidating national identity and human values, according to a professional media method and advanced digital approaches.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed that His Majesty the King’s steadfast support to meet the aspirations of the press and media community in keeping pace with the continuous developments witnessed by the press and media sector in accordance with recent changes and media trends, will contribute to the further development of the press and media. Media work that confirms the priority that His Majesty the King attaches to supporting the press and the media to perform their enlightening role.
