Interior Minister receives US ambassador

Manama, July 14 (BNA) Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received today US Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Stephen Bundy and the accompanying delegation.

Public Security Chief Lieutenant-General Tariq Al-Hassan and Deputy Chief of Public Security Major General Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended.

The Minister of Interior welcomed the American ambassador, praising the distinguished relations and strategic partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America.

He praised the success of his visit to the United States last month for his dedication to enhancing security cooperation and facilitating the travel of Bahrainis through Bahrain’s accession to the Global Entry Program to activate an agreement signed in January 2021.

He valued the results of his negotiations during the visit with US officials, including the Minister of Homeland Security, the Assistant Secretary of State and the Coordinator of the Counter-Terrorism Office, noting the importance of enhancing communication and exchanging security expertise and expertise to develop cooperation.

The US envoy expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Minister of Interior for his keenness to enhance cooperation, praising Bahrain’s human rights achievements through the expansion of the application of the Penal Code, alternative measures, and the open prisons program.
