Interior Minister chairs Civil Defence Council meeting

Manama, February 2 (BNA) The Minister of Interior, Lieutenant-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, chaired today the Civil Defense Council.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Oil, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Minister of Information Affairs, the Head of Public Security, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, the Executive Vice President of the Electricity and Water Authority and the Executive Vice President of the Electricity and Water Authority. The Minister of Interior welcomed the members, stressing that the meeting comes within the framework of civil protection measures to ensure the public safety of citizens and residents.


The meeting began with topics on the agenda, including joint national exercises within the disaster management plan. The importance of carrying out these exercises in partnership with various sectors and through realistic scenarios was emphasized. The meeting also stressed the importance of rapid response in dealing with accidents and building public safety capabilities.


The Council was briefed on the results of the work of the Civil Defense Volunteers Committee. The committee is dedicated to managing volunteer work, volunteer admission requirements, and the training process. The meeting also reviewed the rules of the Voluntary Public Security Services Law to promote loyalty, patriotism and social responsibility to protect security and stability.


The council discussed safety conditions in homes, private facilities, and work, and measures to develop them to protect lives and property.
