iGA renews contractual agreement with Microsoft

Washington, March 4 (BNA): The Information and eGovernment Authority renewed its partnership with Microsoft on the sidelines of the visit of His Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the United States. .


The CEO of the Information and e-Government Authority, Muhammad Ali Al-Qaed, stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations with the United States. He said that the renewal of the contractual agreement with Microsoft aims to support national digitization efforts, to enable full use of the company’s services, and to support economic growth, in accordance with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.


The leader confirmed that the contract renewal builds on a 23-year relationship with Microsoft, which has seen the government email system transition to the national cloud, according to an agreement signed in 2015, and other cloud-based services according to the 2018 agreement. This successful partnership has improved the efficiency of services government over the years.


Al Qaed emphasized the need to adopt advanced technologies in implementing national projects and initiatives, adding that partnership with leading technology companies such as Microsoft was key to improving the end user experience and facilitating cooperation between various government agencies.


Sheikh Saif bin Hilal Al Hosani, Regional Director of Microsoft in Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, affirmed the company’s support for the Kingdom’s efforts in digital transformation and its use of artificial intelligence. Microsoft will support the empowerment of public sector employees through training, and help the government deliver innovative services to citizens and residents. He added that cloud computing and the Internet of Things offer great potential and can help the government build a knowledge-based economy.

The agreement includes more than 22,000 licenses for government employees, along with round-the-clock second and third line technical support and various workshops. It also covers cloud computing services under the Microsoft 365 package umbrella, along with flexible customization of online platforms, and applications that simplify employee workflows and enhance data security.
