Bahrain grants US sovereignty of US users’ data in kingdom’s cloud computing centres

Washington, March 4 (BNA) The Kingdom of Bahrain has granted the United States sovereignty over the data of US beneficiaries over data centers in Bahrain. The decision came on the sidelines of the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister to the United States.


The CEO of the Bahrain Information and eGovernment Authority, Mohammed Ali Al-Qaed, confirmed that this decision is based on Bahrain’s Cloud Computing Services Law, Law 56, of 2018, which allows foreign parties to access cloud computing. services. Al-Qaed explained that this step contributes to creating a favorable environment for foreign investment in the Kingdom.


Al-Qaed stressed that the government first adopted a cloud computing policy with the aim of directing investment in the Kingdom in the fields of technology and cloud computing to enhance the information and communication technology sector. He explained that the Kingdom is still keen to create partnerships to exchange knowledge and experience, while adopting the latest modern technologies to ensure the provision of highly efficient services.
