iGA discusses financial sector contributions to GDP

Manama, Dec. 24 (BNA): The Information and e-Government Authority discussed ways to provide data to support the financial sector’s contributions to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s GDP, in a meeting held with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy and the Ministry of Finance. Central Bank of Bahrain. In line with Bahrain’s economic recovery plan and the financial services sector development strategy (2022-2026), the meeting was held at the headquarters of the Information and eGovernment Authority in Al Barsha Building in Muharraq.

Also discussed were the methodologies for calculating the GDP in line with international standards, the national classification of economic activities that allows comparisons between international and national data, and guidelines for improving national classifications and the Kingdom’s statistical systems.

By discussing the financial sector, the participants examined ways to provide data to support the contribution of the financial sector to the GDP, as well as details related to data quality, accuracy, frequency, and comprehensiveness.

The Director of Economic Statistics at the Information and e-Government Authority, Noura Al-Sadoun, thanked the Central Bank of Bahrain for their continuous support in providing the required data, and also thanked the Ministry of Finance and National Economy for its efforts in enhancing cooperation between government institutions and monitoring the indicators of the national economy that support the decision. makers.

The continuous partnerships of the Statistics Department of the Government Statistics Department with government agencies provide reliable data that support the national economy. This is maintained through coordinated meetings, adoption of advanced statistical techniques in accordance with international standards, implementation of surveys and issuance of economic reports that reflect the level of contribution of each sector to the GDP.
