HRH the Deputy King lays the foundation stone of Bahrain’s National Assembly building

Manama, Dec. 25 (BNA): The Viceroy, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, laid today, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the cornerstone of the National Assembly building in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Highness the Deputy King affirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving its comprehensive development goals under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

His Highness pointed out that His Majesty the King’s ambitious leadership and leadership constitutes the path of large-scale development in the Kingdom, which benefits citizens and residents. In this regard, His Highness the Deputy King affirmed the government’s commitment to building on the Kingdom’s achievements for the benefit of all.

His Highness recalled the contributions made by the late Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, in light of the cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities, which strengthened the national development process in the Kingdom.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad indicated that the laying of the foundation stone, which coincides with the start of the sixth legislative term of the Shura and Representative Councils, is a milestone in advancing the wheel of progressive democratic rule in the Kingdom.

His Highness the Deputy King reaffirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation and continuous coordination between the executive, legislative and judicial authorities to advance development in the Kingdom.

His Highness highlighted the important role of members of the legislative authority in drafting and presenting the necessary legislation for the comprehensive advancement of the Kingdom for the benefit of citizens. His Highness praised the role of the heads and members of the Shura Council and the House of Representatives in serving and developing the Kingdom.

For his part, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, His Excellency Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, praised His Majesty the King’s firm and continuous commitment to continue advancing comprehensive development in the Kingdom, adding that His Majesty’s directives had a positive impact on democratic governance. Parliamentary work. Al-Musallam expressed his appreciation to His Majesty the King for his sponsorship of laying the foundation stone for the new building.


His Excellency Al-Muslim also expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Viceroy for his commitment and support to the Kingdom and its citizens. He announced that the National Assembly building represents the comprehensive development and progress of the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

His Excellency Mr. Ghanim bin Fadel Al-Buainain, Minister of Shura Council and Representatives Affairs, delivered a speech in which he affirmed that the Kingdom’s comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty the King has laid the foundations for democratic rule of the Kingdom.

Al Buainain expressed his gratitude to His Royal Highness, the Viceroy, for his continued commitment to supporting the large-scale development in the Kingdom, which would create a prosperous future for Bahrain.

Then, His Highness laid the foundation stone for the National Assembly and received a souvenir on the occasion.

The area of ​​the National Assembly in the Kingdom of Bahrain is 19,000 square metres. The first phase of construction will include a hall for the National Assembly that can accommodate about 500 people, a hall for the Shura and Representative Councils that can accommodate 40 people, and a multi-purpose hall.

The project also includes a service building and facilities, a library, a museum documenting democratic rule in Bahrain, a media center, and an outdoor arena surrounded by a gallery for opening ceremonies.

The building’s design includes elements of Bahrain’s architectural heritage, such as palm fronds, and features a distinctive main gate. Sustainable construction methods will be used, and the completed building will be energy efficient.

The ceremony was also attended by a number of senior officials.
