HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa chairs the weekly Cabinet meeting

Manama, July 4 (BNA) His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet stressed the importance of the bilateral talks that took place between His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Sisi, which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

During the meeting, the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between Bahrain and Egypt was noted, as the Cabinet cited the signed agreements and memoranda of understanding as evidence of a fruitful visit.

The Cabinet also praised the official opening of the new passenger building at Bahrain International Airport by His Majesty the King and His Excellency Al-Sisi, in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Cabinet highlighted the role of Bahrain International Airport in enhancing the Kingdom’s position in the aviation sector and supporting the Kingdom’s development. The Cabinet also praised the airport workforce for their contribution to the successes of the Bahraini aviation sector.

On the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha holiday, the Council of Ministers expressed its best wishes to His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister and the people of Bahrain.

The Cabinet praised the efforts of the Bahrain team in implementing the Kingdom’s economic recovery plan and the fiscal balance programme. Both initiatives have gained international recognition from institutions such as the International Monetary Fund’s report on Bahrain’s progress towards financial stability and economic prosperity. In this regard, the Cabinet stressed the importance of continuing efforts to achieve the Kingdom’s desired goals.

In light of the global developments that affected energy supplies, logistics and commodity prices, the Minister of Industry and Trade gave a presentation on the Ministry’s plans to ensure the security of basic commodity supply lines regardless of the circumstances.

Following the presentation, the Council of Ministers thanked the Minister of Industry and Trade for his efforts in securing the provision of basic commodities, and indicated the importance of continuing to monitor market prices and availability of commodities.

In connection with the revision of a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs on Developments under Government Priorities 3.0 (GPF 3.0), the Cabinet directed the respective ministries to develop an implementation plan for the remaining 29 projects under GPF 3.0 aimed at achieving fiscal sustainability and development. Operational plans should be submitted to the Cabinet by the Ministries as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the controls of linking the relevant authorities to the electronic system of commercial records.

2. A memorandum by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture regarding the ownership of real estate for public use to provide the necessary spaces for urban development.

3. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to six proposals and two law proposals submitted by the House of Representatives and a proposed law submitted by the Shura Council.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topic:

1. The memorandum of the Minister of Interior regarding the priorities, policies and programs of the Ministry of Interior according to the government’s work plan 2019-2022.

The Cabinet reviewed the ministerial reports on the award ceremony of the UNESCO – King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Award for the use of information and communication technology in education, the award ceremony of His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award. Participation in the Education Summit on Transformation, the 32nd Agricultural Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries, and Participation in the Eleventh Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF).
