Government procurement requests worth BD2.2 million

Discussed at the ICT Governance Committee meeting

Manama, September 26 (BNA): Purchase orders submitted by government agencies, valued at about 2.2 million Bahraini dinars, were discussed at the 55th meeting of the Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee (ICTGC).

The virtual meeting was chaired by Muhammad Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority.

The meeting included a discussion on the electronic wallet, the Information and e-Government Authority project approved by the Council of Ministers, which aims to provide an electronic wallet as an alternative to cash collection of government transaction fees, in line with the efforts of the Information and eGovernment Authority to accelerate the digital transformation of government services.

The committee also reviewed the installation of digital chips in the smart meters of the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA), which will enable the meters to remotely read consumption data in real time and automatically identify any problems in the meters and/or differences in consumption. . The project is part of the Electricity and Water Authority’s plan to install smart meters in all governorates of the Kingdom.

The agenda also included projects and purchase requests related to improving information technology services in many government agencies. In addition, the Committee reviewed the implemented decisions from previous meetings.
