Finance and National Economy Ministry hosts symposium on GCC economic developments

Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA): The Ministry of Finance and National Economy held a symposium on the latest economic developments in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries within the framework of the ongoing Gulf cooperation with the World Bank.

The symposium focused on the report entitled “Economic Modernization of the Gulf: Opportunities for Green Growth in the GCC Countries” issued by the World Bank. The report devoted a special section to green growth opportunities, in line with the vision of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries regarding the future economy in which the private sector plays a leading role in investment and job creation.

In her opening speech, the Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs, Iman Al-Asfoor, highlighted the importance of the economic recovery plan launched by the Kingdom in October 2021.

Meanwhile, the World Bank’s Regional Director for the GCC, Essam Abu Suleiman, delivered an opening speech before the keynote presentation by the report’s authors, World Bank Group Chief Economist for the GCC, Ismail Radwan, and Global Chief Economist. Khaled Al-Hamoud Bank.

The Ministry of Finance and National Economy emphasized the role of the symposium in enriching knowledge, exchanging experiences, and reviewing the most important developments at the regional and international economic levels.

Representatives of relevant government departments and a number of officials and employees from the Ministry of Finance and National Economy attended.
