SCIA President meets with Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs

Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA): The President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, held a working meeting today with the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif. Bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Nawaf bin Muhammad Al-Maawda, and members of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

The President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs welcomed the guest of Bahrain, praising the strong historical relations between the two brotherly countries and their steady development thanks to the keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. Al Saud to further consolidate them in all fields. He praised the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defending the Arab nation and serving Islam.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa praised the role of the Saudi minister and his ministry in calling for Islam and spreading its values.

The Saudi minister expressed his thanks and appreciation for the meeting, praising the strong brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries. He also praised the role of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain in serving Islamic causes. He stressed the importance that Islam attaches to loyalty and allegiance to the homeland and its leadership, pointing to the importance of Sunni and Shiite clerics joining hands to protect their nation from all conspiracies against it. He called for rejecting extremism, stressing the efforts of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance to protect the pulpits of mosques from being misused to stir up sedition, fanaticism and extremism.

The minister stressed that Saudi citizens are treated on an equal footing, as they all enjoy the same rights and have the same duties. He also referred to the increasing number of mosques in the Kingdom and their full commitment to Islamic law. He emphasized the Kingdom’s position as a role model in spreading tolerance and rejecting hatred.

Then a member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Abd al-Rahman Dirar al-Shaer, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the council’s mission, objectives, competencies and achievements in serving Islam and promoting unity among all Muslims.
