UAE Embassy in Bahrain joins Forever Green campaign with 250,000 mangrove seeds

Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NAID) announced that it had received 250,000 mangrove seeds, 15,000 Ghaf seeds and 20,000 Mangrove and Ghaf seedlings from the UAE Ministry of Climate Change. and the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi.

The generous offer supports the Forever Green campaign and enhances cooperation between Bahrain and the UAE, especially after it has gained momentum since the establishment of the Joint Higher Committee and the good results it has achieved.

The announcement came during the country’s embassy’s participation in planting Ghaf seedlings at the National Charter Monument.

Deputy Emirati Ambassador Mansour Al-Juwaid, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, Secretary-General of the Nayed Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, and Director-General of the Southern Municipality Sheikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Ministry of Oil and Environment. The ceremony was attended by the Acting Undersecretary Fayhan Al-Faihani, senior officials and experts.

Al-Juwaid praised Nyad’s launch of the National Campaign for Green Forever under the generous patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Nyad’s Advisory Board.

He expressed their happiness with the embassy’s participation in the campaign by planting Ghaf seedlings in the monument, pointing to the symbolism of the site and its importance to the close relationship between Bahrainis and their leadership on the National Action Charter.

The diplomat expressed his appreciation for the Forever Green campaign, which was reflected in the wide participation of various public and private institutions in the Kingdom.

He highlighted the UAE’s contribution to the Forever Green campaign with 10,000 mangrove seedlings with the support of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, 15,000 Ghaf seeds and 10,000 Ghaf seedlings provided by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.

The participation reflects the spirit of brotherhood between the two countries, and comes within the framework of joint efforts to confront climate change, protect natural assets and ensure their use in the coming years.

Al-Mubarak praised the UAE’s participation in the Forever Green campaign and stressed the close ties between the two countries.

The minister stressed the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa regarding the importance of expanding tree planting and combating climate change, in light of the plans and programs developed by the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince. and prime minister to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2060.

He stressed Nyad’s efforts, led by Her Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, through its continuation of afforestation campaigns in various regions, as well as its partnership with the initiative to double the number of trees in the country by 2035.

Sheikha Maram praised the efforts of the country’s embassy and said that the UAE’s generous support will be directed in cooperation with partners in the Supreme Council for the Environment and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture to reach environmental and agricultural goals and achieve His Majesty the King. The visions of His Majesty the King and the support of the government’s goals and the aspirations of His Royal Highness Prince Salman.

The generous support from the United Arab Emirates reflects the importance of those partnerships that promote environmental sustainability, unite efforts to meet climate challenges, and strive to work to reduce the effects of climate change resulting from increased carbon emissions, lower temperatures, and increased air quality locally and globally. She said.

Sheikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Director General of the National Pact Monument, praised the great role played by the Eternity Campaign.

He stressed the importance of expanding green areas through afforestation campaigns to preserve the environment and enhance aesthetic landscapes throughout Bahrain and the Southern Governorate in particular.

His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Rashid Al Maktoum affirmed the great interest in the National Charter Monument in green spaces since its inauguration in 2010 under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

He highlighted his pride in choosing National Charter Monument to be part of the Forever Green campaign and noted the role of each entity committed to its success.
