Climate Special Envoy participates in 24th GCC Environment Ministers meeting

Manama, April. 4 / Us /: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the personal representative of His Majesty the President of the Supreme Council for the Environment, delegated the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Executive Chairman of the Supreme Council for the Environment, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak. Bin Dina heads the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the twenty-fourth meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.


The meeting agreed on a number of topics and recommendations raised in light of the global challenges facing the environment and sustainable development and related to the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council regarding the message of the General Secretariat 2020 for the Gulf environment movements, environmental restrictions, and the strategic plan of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. Committee of Environment Ministers, Gulf Environmental Gateway, Gulf Cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), General Secretariat’s Message on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and International Cooperation with Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan and other countries. European Union (EU).


The meeting discussed the initiatives of the Group of Twenty, the Kingdom’s proposal on reducing plastic pollution, and the request of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
