Bilaj Al Jazayer master plan approved

Manama, February 6 (BNA) The Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), the real estate arm of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), announced the master plan for a huge mixed-use project with an area of ​​1.3 million square meters “Plage Al”. The Algeria development project was approved by the Bahrain Higher Committee for Urban Planning headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Edama’s Chairman, Khalid Al-Rumaihi, confirmed that the approved master plan is designed to balance economic and social development and environmental sustainability in line with the Kingdom’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2060. Al-Rumaihi stated that the mixed plan-use of the coastal city will include green technologies And clean spaces to purify the air and reduce temperatures, as well as shaded walkways near major facilities to encourage walking and reduce car use. He added that the buildings will also be designed in a way that reduces exposure to heat and thus reduces the electricity needed for air conditioning. The supporting infrastructure will include water recycling facilities as well as electricity generation facilities from solar energy, thus enhancing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s global position in protecting the environment and supporting sustainable development.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Edamah said: “By working with our strategic partners such as UPDA and other government agencies, we will continue to develop projects that are in line with the vision and directions of the Government of Bahrain and its forward-looking economic recovery plan. Plage Algeria is a major development for Edamah and will contribute to developing the infrastructure of the Kingdom of Bahrain and adding value to the tourism sector.”

Located on the southwest coast of Bahrain, Al Jazira Beach is set to change the tourist landscape in Bahrain. Together with investors and strategic partners, the masterplan entails building a series of hotels, leisure and entertainment facilities, restaurants, retail components and housing. The project also includes a 3 km long beach, which is the cornerstone of the master plan. The beach area of ​​Plage Algeria recently reopened to the public in November last year as part of the project’s first phase of 5 million dinars which covered coastal reclamation, parking, service facilities and a 1.2 kilometer long driveway. Two important facilities have already been announced: Avani and Tivoli hotels will open by 2024, and the first two hospitality projects will be in Plage Algiers.
