Manama, April 17 (BNA): The winners of the 27th session of the Bahrain Grand Quran Prize were honored during a ceremony commemorating the Night of Power.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at Al-Fateh Islamic Centre.
The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) co-organized the event with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
It was attended by Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Rashid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council, President of the Court of Cassation Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, and Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Nawaf bin Mohammed Al-Maawda.
The ceremony was also attended by scholars, members of the Shura Council, members of the House of Representatives, members of the Sunni and Jaafari Endowments Councils, judges, ambassadors, officials and participants from Quranic centers.
The Chairman of the Supreme Investment Council, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, addressed the ceremony, extending his best wishes to His Majesty the King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the people of Bahrain and the Islamic nation on the (Night of Power).
He praised His Majesty the King’s royal support for Islamic activities, which he said supports the role led by the Supreme Council for Investment in serving Islam and promoting firm values and solid foundations.
Council members Dr. Farid bin Yaqoub Al-Muftah and Dr. Sulaiman bin Sheikh Mansour Al-Sitri also delivered a speech at the ceremony, praising the royal sponsorship of the event.
The competition of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa won the award for the best local Quranic competition, while the Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa Center won the award for the best Quranic center for males.
During the ceremony, the participants from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Development were honored.
Then prizes were distributed to 108 winners. The competition also included individual prizes: the prize for the eldest contestant, the prize for the youngest contestant, the flute prize for the Prophet David, the prize for the best Quranic center, the prize for the Quranic family, the prize for the best local Quranic competition.
A total of 4,063 contestants – 2,003 men and 2,060 women – participated in various categories of the 27th edition of the Bahrain Grand Quran Prize.
The categories included: Holy Quran Memorization Award for students of Quranic centers, Bayan Award for school students, Ajran Award for people with mild mental disabilities, Al-Ghufran Award for inmates of the Correction and Rehabilitation Department, Radwan Award for the Public, and Salman Al-Farsi.
