Vietnamese Film Week launched at Expo 2020 Dubai

Dubai, Jan. 1 (BUS): Film fans at Expo 2020 Dubai prepare to enjoy the Vietnam Pavilion until Jan. 5, 2022.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that the Vietnamese Film Week kicked off on Thursday as part of the country’s National Day at Tira Hall where Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Commissioner-General of Vietnam Expo 2020 Dubai gave a speech.

Nguyen Phuong Hua said the films were chosen “to reflect the current and contemporary life of Vietnam and will appeal to a wide range of audiences.”

“We believe Vietnamese Film Week is a wonderful occasion to showcase Vietnam as a peaceful and vibrant country, its national identity, and to celebrate human values,” she said.

The title followed this week’s premiere – “Dad, I’m Sorry” – a record-breaking box office film in Vietnam that won the Silver Lotus Award for Best Feature Film at the 2021 Vietnam Film Festival. It tells the story of a motorcyclist who lives in a low-key neighborhood. Income in Ho Chi Minh City, which always puts his family first despite his health and money problems.

Each of the films shown during the festival is popular and critically acclaimed in Vietnam. Chosen to give audiences a glimpse into Vietnamese culture, the program features films made in the past five years, from diverse genres including drama, comedy, romance and fantasy.

All films shown during the Vietnamese Film Week at Expo 2020 Dubai will be shown in the original Vietnamese with English and Arabic subtitles. The films will be shown at various locations during the week.
