Manama, September 2 (BNA) Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa received the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Bahrain Khalid Al-Maqwad, head of the Bahrain-based UN-Habitat Country Program, Dr. Fernanda Lonardone, and discussed joint cooperation.
The Undersecretary praised the efforts of the United Nations organizations in Bahrain by working with national partners from the public and private sectors, as well as civil society, under the roof of the strategic partnership framework to achieve sustainable development goals, in line with national development priorities. .
He highlighted the ministry’s main initiatives to expand afforestation projects, develop gardens, parks and coasts, and beautify intersections and streets.
Al-Maqwad praised the development steps that Bahrain is witnessing in the field of urban development, stressing the keenness of the United Nations to continue cooperation with the Ministry in various programs to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
