Transportation and Telecommunications Minister meets DCO secretary-general

Manama, March 27 (BNA): The Minister of Transport and Communications, Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, received a high-level delegation from the Digital Cooperation Organization headed by Secretary-General Dima Al-Yahah, on a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain until Tuesday (March) this month. 29).

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the organization’s work, objectives and Bahrain’s role as a member.

The minister stressed the steps of the Kingdom of Bahrain in making use of information and communication technologies to enhance the efficiency and mechanisms of government work.

He said, “We look forward to building our relationship with the organization and taking advantage of more opportunities that will increase our contribution to digital cooperation in order to develop our common digital economy.”

Minister of Transport and Communications Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed met with a high-level delegation from the Digital Cooperation Organization headed by Mrs. Dima Al-Yahya, Secretary-General of the Organization, within the framework of an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Director of International Government Relations Omar Al-Nimr, Director of Digital Ecosystems Relations Saud Al-Ghrimel, and Engineer Maryam Ahmed Jamaan, Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.

During the meeting, the objectives and initiatives of the organization and the role of Bahrain as one of the founding members of the organization were discussed.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the founding members of the Digital Cooperation Organization, and we have great experience at the national level in the use of ICT technologies in order to enhance the efficiency of government operations and services. We look forward to further building our relationship with the Digital Cooperation Organization and taking advantage of more opportunities that would increase our contribution in the economy.

It is worth noting that the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) was established in 2020 as the first international organization focused on the digital economy that aims to empower members to empower women, youth and entrepreneurs to accelerate growth through the digital economy and achieve more prosperity through innovation.

The current member states include Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Rwanda and Saudi Arabia.
