Tourism Minister holds work meeting with WTTC Chief Executive

Bali, September 27 (BNA): Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sirafi held a working meeting with the CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) on the sidelines of her participation in the World Tourism Organization. Meetings in Bali, Indonesia, on the occasion of World Tourism Day.

The minister affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to build bridges of fruitful partnership with international tourism organizations. She noted the Kingdom’s efforts to support international trends to accelerate the recovery of the global tourism sector and restore growth rates in the pre-pandemic period. She briefed the distinguished potential of the tourism sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting the ambitious goals of the tourism strategy 2022-2026.

For her part, CEO of the World Tourism Council Julia Simpson praised the effective participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Tourism, in regional and international events related to the tourism sector. She commended the Bahraini government’s support for tourism, believing in the sector’s ability to contribute to economic and human development. She specifically referred to the establishment of the Bahrain International Exhibition Center, which will undoubtedly be a new and leading destination for various exhibitions, events and conferences.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the role of the travel and tourism sector in revitalizing the global economy, especially in light of expectations that this sector will grow twice as fast as the global economy during the next ten years. They pointed to the sector’s ability to create more than 126 million jobs worldwide over the next decade.
