Transportation Minister announces Bahrain candidacy for ITU Council membership

Bucharest, September 27 (BNA) The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mohammed bin Thamer Al-Kaabi, announced the candidacy of the Kingdom of Bahrain for membership in the International Telecommunication Union Council, as part of the Kingdom’s keenness to do so. Complementing the work of the Council with its consensus-based approach, commitment to a global and comprehensive vision, and continuous support to ensure that peoples and countries reap the benefits of the digital economy.


This came during the Kingdom of Bahrain’s speech delivered by the Minister during his participation in the Plenipotentiary Conference in Bucharest, Romania. He pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has succeeded in keeping pace with the changes in the global spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) after the investment it made in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. He pointed to the cooperation of the public and private sectors to confront the repercussions of the epidemic and ensure the continuity of life and services in the Kingdom.
