Torino beats Fiorentina 4-0 in postponed Serie A game

Rome, Jan. 10 (BNA): Josep Bricalo scored twice as Torino beat Fiorentina 4-0 in Serie A on Monday, ending Viola’s five-game unbeaten streak.

Wilfried Sengo and Antonio Sanabria also scored for Torino, who are unbeaten at home in seven consecutive games for the first time since 2016-2017.

Torino climbed to ninth while Fiorentina, one of the highlights of the first half of the season, remained sixth.

The match was originally scheduled for Sunday but was postponed by a day to allow Torino players more time to recover from the coronavirus outbreak.

It was the first match in 2022 for both clubs. Local health authorities banned Turin from playing Atalanta in the previous round after six players and two staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

Likewise, Fiorentina was supposed to face Udinese, who was also banned from playing due to several positives.

Jonathan Iconi, the winger who signed Fiorentina from French champions Lille, came in in the last 12 minutes.
