Telecommunications Minister participates in ITU summit

Manama, March 15 (BNA): Minister of Transportation and Communications Mohammed bin Thamer Al-Kaabi actively participated in the World Summit on the Information Society 2023, which is being hosted by the International Telecommunication Union in cooperation with the UNESCO and the United Nations. Development Program (United Nations Development Program).

The minister praised the role of the International Telecommunication Union in bringing together many experts, specialists and stakeholders in the telecommunications and information sector to discuss common issues.

He affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support for the summit’s initiatives by developing legislation and infrastructure for the telecommunications sector in line with the strategy for the digital economy sector (2022-2026).

The minister affirmed the Kingdom’s achievements in the communications and information technology sector, and its continuous endeavor to encourage the digital economy through developing the infrastructure of the communications sector.

He highlighted Bahrain’s success in activating 5G technologies and providing high-quality coverage to all residents.

The minister affirmed the Kingdom’s endeavor to work with all partners in various countries to ensure a safe digital transformation that provides an opportunity to reach a better lifestyle for individuals and societies and to exchange ideas and experiences between various organizations.
