Special Investigation Unit unveils training programme

Manama, October 15 (BNA) The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) intends to establish a training program aimed at strengthening the capabilities of those concerned with the protection of human rights in the penal system.

The event is being held under the auspices of Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al Buainain, and in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, the Royal Academy of Police (RAP), the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI) and the Law. implementers and civil society organizations.

The six-month program, scheduled to start at the end of this month, targets about 1,000 participants from national institutions and bodies concerned with the sanctions regime. The program includes three axes related to international human rights standards.

“The program aims to support national bodies concerned with the protection of human rights and develop the capacities of their members,” said the Acting Attorney General and Head of the Special Investigation Unit, Muhammad Khaled Al-Hazaa.

The program also comes within the framework of national efforts to achieve Bahrain’s vision aimed at promoting human rights and achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026) to develop alternative justice in line with international standards.
