Speaker receives Industry Minister

Manama, Feb. 5 (BNA): Parliament Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam stressed the importance of focusing on initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing food security, providing commodities and controlling markets and outlets, in light of citizens’ statements about increasing the prices of some products.

The Speaker of Parliament pointed out the need to monitor commodity prices and ensure their availability, pointing to the importance of consumer protection, spreading awareness and strengthening community partnership.

This came during today’s meeting with the Minister of Industry and Trade, Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, in the presence of the Second Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Ahmed Abdel Wahed Qarata, and a member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee, Hassan Ibrahim Hassan.

The discussions focused on ways to enhance parliamentary support for the commercial, industrial and investment sectors and to promote a culture of consumer protection.

The Minister of Industry and Trade affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to conduct periodic inspections of markets in the Kingdom of Bahrain to control prices and ensure that there is no manipulation in commodity prices and to achieve comprehensive control.
