Speaker: Bahrain ready to host 146th IPU Assembly and related meetings

Manama, Jan. 26 (BNA): Parliament Speaker and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Delegation, Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, today chaired a meeting with diplomatic missions.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh.

The meeting was devoted to reviewing the Kingdom’s preparations to host the 146th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and related meetings on March 11 and 15.

Al-Muslim welcomed the ambassadors in the “People’s House”, which is one of the fruits of the pioneering reform project launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa nearly two decades ago within the framework of the rule of law and institutions that are based on solid constitutional foundations, paving the way for steady progress in the democratic process. Which earned the Kingdom local and international fame.

He stressed that the Kingdom’s hosting of the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is a global vote of confidence in the Kingdom’s distinguished ability to organize major international conferences and events.

He pointed out that the legislative authority in the Kingdom, in cooperation with the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and the relevant national institutions, has taken all necessary measures and steps to host the largest global parliamentary gathering.

In this regard, he revealed the formation of a national organizing committee headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, Jamal Muhammad Fakhro, and harnessing all capabilities to receive representatives of 178 parliaments and ensure the success of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and. its relevant meetings.

He expressed his hope that the 146th session of the Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union would unify the positions of the world’s parliaments to contribute to strengthening global peace and security and spreading the values ​​of tolerance and coexistence for a better world for all.

The Speaker of the Shura Council expressed his pride in the global confidence in the Kingdom’s ability to host the huge parliamentary gathering, stressing the prestigious position that the Kingdom’s comprehensive and democratic development march has reached under the leadership of His Majesty the King and with the support of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He added that global events will provide an opportunity for about 200 representatives of 178 parliaments to get acquainted closely with the Kingdom and its pivotal role in spreading the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence and peace, in addition to its distinguished civilized image.

He praised the pivotal role played by the ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries in coordinating with the parliaments of their countries to present their ideas and visions on the subject of the conference, which focuses on spreading coexistence and brotherhood and combating intolerance and hatred.

The heads of diplomatic missions to the Kingdom praised Bahrain’s tremendous efforts to host world parliaments.

They also praised the efforts made by the organizing committee to prepare in advance for the huge parliamentary gathering, noting that all necessary information and data related to the 146th session of the federation and related meetings are available.
