SPA to host 48th FANA General Assembly

Riyadh, Jan. 10 (BNA) The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) will host tomorrow the 48th General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (Fana) with the participation of Fana member agencies.

The two-day conference will discuss ways to develop the media performance of member agencies and consolidate their presence on the international media scene.

It will also review Fana’s activities in 2021 and the 2022 work plan, as well as the election of the Fana President, two Vice-Presidents, members of the Secretariat and the Secretary-General, as well as announcing the winners of the Fana Awards 2022. It will also include the best report and best picture.

On this occasion, the head of the Saudi Press Agency, Fahd bin Hassan Al-Aqran, said that the conference comes within the framework of the continuous efforts made by Fana Agency, which is now among the three largest international news organizations, and pushed forward joint work aimed at developing work. member agencies and improving their roles as an influential resource, at a time when private news organizations and large swaths of publications through new technologies have posed a new challenge regarding the accuracy of media message content.

The head of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) welcomed the heads of Fana member agencies into their second country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has been and remains a major supporter of joint Arab action in various fields, including the media sector.

He stressed that the theme of the conference, “The Role of a News Agency in Addressing False News,” reflects the importance of these media institutions and their impact on the internal and external levels as a reliable source for the transfer and flow of information. He stressed the importance of concerted efforts among Fana members to achieve a qualitative leap in performance and media discourse tools.
