Social Development minister praises SCW’s role in supporting GCC women

Manama, May 18 (BNA): The Minister of Social Development, Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, praised the Supreme Council for Women chairing the meeting of the Permanent Committee for Women’s Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council states, which was formed. After a proposal from Bahrain.

The minister praised the role played by the Supreme Council for Women, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, in supporting Bahraini women, which enabled them to perform their national political, economic and social roles. To the fullest extent within the framework of the comprehensive development project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He said that the Gulf committee was proposed by Bahrain as part of efforts to unify the visions of the Gulf Cooperation Council when it comes to women’s issues to build a competitive society characterized by equality and sustainability.

The minister pointed out that the national initiatives and strategies adopted by the Supreme Council for Women represent a road map for developing and strengthening the role of women in vital fields.

He stressed that the Ministry of Social Development supports the initiatives of the “Supreme Council for Women” aimed at supporting the progress of Bahraini women to become equal partners in achieving more national goals.
