Manama, Mar. 12 (BNA): Speaker of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, received today his Qatari counterpart, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, on the sidelines of the 146th session of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from March 11 to 15.
The Speaker of the Shura Council praised the strong historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Qatar and their specificities, stressing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness on unity among the GCC countries. He praised the active participation of the Qatari Shura Council delegation and their keenness to advance the Gulf, Arab and international parliamentary action.
Al-Ghanim expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its successful and distinguished hosting of the largest parliamentary gathering in the world. He also praised the position of the Bahraini parliamentary delegation and its support for the emergency clause approved by the State of Qatar to criminalize hatred and intolerance.
The meeting was attended by the second deputy speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Jihad Abdullah Al-Fadhel, and the Secretary-General, Karima Muhammad Al-Abbasi.
