Shura Chairman hails launch of “Light-1” satellite

Manama, December 21 (BNA) The Speaker of the Shura Council, Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the launch of the first joint Bahraini-Emirati satellite “Light 1”. He stressed that the launch is a great achievement resulting from the royal directives to encourage investments in the fields of industry, space and future sciences.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors also congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister on this achievement, praising the government’s support for programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening Bahrain’s position regionally and internationally, especially in the field of future sciences.

Al-Saleh praised the follow-up of His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, the National Security Adviser, the Commander of the Royal Guard and the Secretary-General of the Supreme Defense Council, His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and his keenness to motivate young people to innovate in modern sciences. He stressed that Bahrain’s youth possess capabilities that enable them to contribute to more achievements and successes in the process of renaissance and development.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors stressed that naming the satellite after His Majesty’s book “The First Light” reflects the great ambitions of His Majesty the King and the royal vision for a prosperous future for different generations.

He praised the efforts of the National Space Science Authority and the cooperation with the UAE Space Agency, the UAE-based Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, and New York University Abu Dhabi, which contributed to the launch of the Bahraini satellite.

Al-Saleh stressed that the Shura Council supports national projects and is keen to strengthen the system of legislation and laws to meet the Kingdom’s aspirations to achieve sustainable development goals under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
