Main responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Estimation Manager, the Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing bids and evaluating bid specifications and drawings. He has to predict the cost of future construction projects, and analyze and collect data about every factor that may have an impact on costs.
Basic activities
• Develop a full understanding of the company’s estimating policies and procedures, and company standards and comply with them at all times.
• Work on types of estimates including: Conceptual, Negotiating, and Tough Bidding. It is different levels of design documentation from only concepts to highly detailed.
• Successfully utilize grading systems and programs to complete grades (eg Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, Candy).
• Coordinate estimating efforts with other members of the company estimating staff and operations staff as required.
• Receive bids and prepare bid package.
• Reviews and evaluates bids to ensure all bid documents are received and corrected.
• Evaluates the bid type and bid closing date to prioritize all bids.
• Studies work as mentioned in the tender document by carefully reading plans along with specifications, bills of quantities, contractual requirements and fully understanding the scope of the project.
• Reviewing and preparing a bid summary that provides brief information on the bid.
• Preparing the initial project estimate using the available historical data, including direct and indirect costs.
salary:
25,000 to 30,000 QR per month, including fixed allowances.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in a field such as: construction management or civil engineering.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience including a combination of appreciation. and project engineering and/or project supervision/management.
• Familiar with the local market (at least 3 years of experience in Qatar)
• Professional skills, in cost estimating, RFQ preparation, scheduling, contract negotiations, and presentations.
• Candidates will be technology savvy and proficient in Microsoft environment (Excel, Word, Outlook) Appreciation of software platforms especially Candy, Autocad and Revit drawing software is an added advantage.
