Second plenary session of Manama Dialogue 2022 concludes

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Participants in the second plenary session of the 18th Manama Dialogue Forum affirmed that the conflicts and challenges facing any region in the world affect all countries, directly or indirectly. They pointed out that crises contribute to weakening the economy, stressing the need for solidarity to face climate challenges and their impact on food and energy security.


German State Minister at the German Foreign Ministry, Dr. Tobias Lindner, stressed the need to comply with international covenants as the common foundations for strengthening security around the world. He said that the dimensions of the new strategic partnership between the European Union and the Arab Gulf states are devoted to a promising future, and that the annual Manama Dialogue Forum constitutes a platform for good dialogue opportunities between the various poles.


Regarding strengthening the security system, he added that maritime security is an important aspect of the security system. He thanked the Kingdom of Bahrain and the countries of the region for their continuous interest in enhancing security and protection for this sector in particular.


Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pekka Olavi Haavisto, stressed the changes facing the world and the need to adhere to human rights principles and international covenants in this regard. He added that the changes taking place at the international level affected energy and food markets and the supply chain. He noted that these changes also led to a scarcity of resources and an increase in prices.


He stressed that his country supports political dialogue, pointing to Europe’s role in supporting regions in need of assistance. He also stressed the importance of defending the global order to prevent conflicts and promote peace.
