SCW Secretary-General receives Italian officials

Manama, November 17 (BNA) The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al-Ansari, received today Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Marina Serini and Minister Plenipotentiary Giuseppe Cavagna.

The Italian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Paula Amadi, also attended the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Supreme Council for Women in Riffa.

They discussed the strong bilateral relations linking the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Italy, noting the two countries’ steps in empowering women.

Serini praised the efforts led by the Supreme Council for Women in enhancing the status of women, expressing her keenness to further enhance joint cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), noting the role of women at the forefront of fighting the pandemic.

The meeting also focused on the efforts made by Italian state institutions in cooperation with the private sector and civil society to activate Security Council Resolution No. 1325 of 2000 on women, peace and security.
