Oil Minister receives OACPS Secretary-General

Manama, May 10 (BNA): The Minister of Oil and Environment, the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, Dr. Muhammad bin Mubarak bin Dinah, received here today the Secretary-General of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, George Rebelo. Bento Chikoti, with whom he discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation.

The minister praised the role played by the OACPS to unify the work among the member states in the region in order to achieve economic growth and the goals of sustainable development.

He stressed the Kingdom’s keenness to enhance its cooperation with organizations and countries in various fields of sustainable development.

It should be noted that the OACPS was established by the Georgetown Agreement in 1975. It includes 79 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries. The main goals of OACPS center around the sustainable development of its members and their progressive integration into the global economy with the ultimate goal of reducing and eventually eliminating poverty.
