Manama, June 29 (BNA) The General Secretariat of the National Institution for Human Rights participated in a symposium entitled “Preventing Torture in the Context of Public Gatherings” organized by Amnesty International in partnership with the Human Rights Association. Prevention of Torture (APT).
The workshop discussed a number of issues related to the prevention of torture in public gatherings.
It also discussed the role of preventive mechanisms in providing the Subcommittee with information on its mandate and performance, as well as key challenges and good practices of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the legal framework for the prevention of torture, and the role of national human rights institutions in preventing torture.
