Manama, July 17 (BNA): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association (OICOA) issued its first newsletter (July 2023), including distinguished coverage of the Office of the Ombudsman in Bahrain.


The first newsletter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in China highlighted the career path of the Ombudsman, Ghada Hamid Habib, and included information about the Office of the Ombudsman in the Kingdom, and its role in establishing respect for human rights principles.


In a report on the Office of the Ombudsman, the OIC Newsletter said: “The general philosophy behind the idea of ​​establishing an independent Ombudsman Office in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and starting its actual work in July 2013, is the philosophy of caring for people, respecting their rights and promoting their freedoms.” It is an authentic national philosophy that emerges. From a wise vision built on the basis of continuous work to develop an intuitive structure that contributes to the advancement of respect for human rights, ensuring accountability, access to justice, and redress within the framework of the criminal justice system, specifically in the field of law enforcement organizations.”


The establishment of the Independent Ombudsman’s Office came as part of the legislative, executive and administrative measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain within its comprehensive democratic and development project. The report added that it represents a remarkable qualitative leap that raised respect for human rights values ​​and principles in public work.


It is worth noting that the Kingdom was among the founding countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Africa during the meeting held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on April 29, 2014.
