Bahrain’s SIU discusses cooperation with UAE’s NHRI

Manama, June 14 (BNA): Deputy Head of the Special Investigation Unit, Muhammad Al-Zubari, received a delegation from the National Institution for Human Rights in the United Arab Emirates, headed by its President, Maqsoud Kross.

During the meeting, the delegation was briefed on the nature of the Special Investigation Unit as an independent legal jurisdiction within the Bahraini legal system, and its role in protecting human rights in the criminal justice system, in cooperation with national mechanisms and institutions.

The attendees were also briefed on the organizational structure of the unit, its specialized departments, and the mechanisms for carrying out its work in accordance with international agreements, standards, and protocols.

This visit aims to enhance cooperation with national institutions and mechanisms specialized in protecting and promoting human rights through exchanging experiences and supporting capacity-building efforts based on the distinguished relations between the two countries.
