Manama, June 14 (BNA): The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al-Ansari, signed today a memorandum of understanding with Dr. David Fernandez Boyana, Permanent Observer of the United Nations University for Women’s Affairs. Peace (UPEACE) of the United Nations and UNESCO.
The MoU aims to enhance cooperation in promoting the role of women as an active component in promoting social peace and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The agreement stipulated the coordination of joint efforts to follow up the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. (1325) of 2000 on women, peace and security. The resolution affirms women’s pioneering role in achieving international peace and security, conflict resolution and peacekeeping.
