Bahrain delegation meets UN officials

New York, July 19 (BNA): Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, and Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al-Khulaif, met with Abdullah Al-Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General and Assistant Director. Director of the Regional Office for Arab States at the United Nations Development Program.

The meeting came on the sidelines of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2023, which is currently being held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, to present the country’s second Voluntary National Review (VNR) on the progress made. Towards achieving the goals of sustainable development and accelerating the realization of the 2030 Agenda.

Al-Rumaihi and Al-Khalif affirmed that the Kingdom, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, established the concepts of sustainable development. And growth and adoption of best practices to achieve the aspirations of citizens.

During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s approach to implementing innovative government mechanisms to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

They pointed out that the submission of the state’s second voluntary national review contributed positively to highlighting the Kingdom’s achievements and the experiences gained in this field, and reflecting the Kingdom’s relentless efforts to overcome obstacles and manage challenges with full efficiency while integrating the 2030 plan into its work. Development plans and the government’s plan, and its commitment to accelerating the implementation of the sustainable development goals.
Al-Dardari expressed his support for Bahrain’s pioneering experience in achieving the goals of sustainable development.

He praised the Kingdom’s ability to overcome challenges in a creative way and its keenness on international cooperation and exchange of experiences within the framework of its approach based on the principle of “leaving no one behind”.
