Sustainable Development Minister meets IMF Executive Director

New York, July 19 (BNA): Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al-Khalif, affirmed that continuing to encourage investment in various sectors to support economic development is a priority that Bahrain is working to achieve.

She said that this contributed positively to achieving the goals of sustainable development by continuing to work on implementing initiatives and programs in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad. This came during a meeting between His Excellency the Minister and Mahmoud Mohieldin, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and the UN Special Envoy for Financing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Minister’s participation in the High-level Political Forum for Sustainable Development 2023, which was held in New York under the title “Accelerating Recovery from Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) and Full Implementation of the” 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels, where the national review was presented. Bahrain’s second voluntary survey on progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

They discussed the global efforts of the International Monetary Fund to support global economic growth, especially in the post-pandemic phase.

The minister said that Bahrain continues its efforts to achieve economic recovery and financial sustainability to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

Al-Khulaif highlighted the importance of continuing to exchange experiences and information with the International Monetary Fund at all levels to achieve common goals.
