Bahrain to host first-ever SDMX Global Conference in Middle East

Manama, July 12 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain will host the 9th SDMX International Conference on the Exchange of Statistical Data and Metadata, from October 29 to November 2, on the topic of empowering data societies.

Co-organized by SDMX sponsors and the Bahrain Information and e-Government Authority (iGA) with support from ESCWA and Banca d’Italia, the event will bring together a wide range of official statistics compilers and users from national, regional and international agencies, academia and the private sector.

The Global Conference is a bi-annual event for the official statistics community worldwide to share information on recent and upcoming developments in SDMX that leverage SDMX tools and technologies to enhance collaboration and knowledge sharing.

It will include three days of plenary sessions followed by two days of statistical capacity building for entry-level and advanced-level statisticians. Set to attract different levels of statisticians, SDMX experts, and data professionals, the conference is a major global event in the field of statistics, providing an opportunity to discuss the latest international developments and specifically to promote the exchange of data, statistical indicators, and SDMX metadata.

It will also enable the participants to stay abreast of the latest developments related to the exchange of national data and information and enhance the capabilities of those working in this field through specialized workshops and public discussions.

Registration for the conference is now open at www.sdmx2023.org. A call for presentations at the conference is also available through July 31 via the conference website or by email at [email protected].
