Foreign Minister highlights Israeli Premier’s official visit to Bahrain

Manama, February 15 (BNA) Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani delivered a press statement on the official visit of Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

“This historic first visit by an Israeli prime minister is another milestone in the relations between the two countries, and will deepen and strengthen our cooperation while furthering our common goals of security, stability and prosperity for our peoples and the wider region,” he said.

He stated that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa welcomed Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his accompanying delegation to hold fruitful, comprehensive and constructive talks that reflect the common desire of the two sides to develop bilateral cooperation.

He added that His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also held talks with the Israeli Prime Minister, reviewed the progress achieved so far, and discussed ways to develop joint work and enhance the aspirations of the two countries and peoples. .

He pointed out that the two sides stressed, during these meetings, the importance of the Ibrahim Agreement and the declaration of support for peace between the two countries, an embodiment of the approach of His Majesty the King in promoting the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence and dialogue and the consolidation of security and stability. and peace in our region.

Dr. Al-Zayani noted the great progress that has already been made at the bilateral level, including the establishment of diplomatic relations, the exchange of ambassadors and the start of direct flights, and that the two sides reviewed the steps taken in a number of areas.

The two countries reiterated the importance of expanding and strengthening cooperation under existing agreements, as well as in other areas of common interest.

He pointed out that the Israeli Prime Minister visited the Economic Development Board, where he held talks with senior officials on these issues.

The minister explained that the two countries agreed to strengthen relations between our two peoples, especially through educational, cultural and academic cooperation, stressing the importance of involving young people in the peacebuilding process for the benefit of future generations.

The two sides also expressed their keenness to promote tourism and explore opportunities to benefit from the skilled and dynamic workforce in Bahrain.

He also referred to the “Common Warm Peace Strategy” agreed upon by the two sides, which will further guide the development of relations between the two countries, and will prioritize areas of mutual interest including innovation, ecosystems, food and water security, and sustainable energy. Dr. Al-Zayani indicated that the two sides also discussed political and security developments in the region, and the challenges facing their countries, including the Iranian nuclear file, terrorism, religious extremism, and poverty, as well as social issues, and the two sides stressed the importance of this. Intensifying joint efforts to confront regional challenges and threats, maintain stability and security in the Middle East, and promote regional and international peace.
