EWA to build five EVs fast charging stations

Manama, June 24 (BNA): Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, met with the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Automobile Dealers Association.

The minister affirmed the ministry’s keenness to adopt policies that encourage the use of electric vehicles, and indicated that the Electricity and Water Authority plans to build five fast charging stations for electric vehicles that contribute to achieving what was announced by His Royal Highness Prince Salman. Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) on Bahrain, aiming to reach zero neutrality in 2060.

The meeting reviewed the efforts made to promote renewable energy projects, including the use of electric vehicles, as well as the goals of developing new renewable energy projects and the required infrastructure for electric vehicles, which will contribute to enhancing public awareness leading to a sustainable lifestyle.

Humaidan said that strengthening the partnership between the private sector and civil society institutions will contribute to the development of various services provided to citizens and residents in the Kingdom.

The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Automobile Dealers Association expressed their gratitude for the Electricity and Water Authority’s keenness to provide the appropriate infrastructure to attract electric vehicles to the Kingdom.

The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Automobile Dealers Association added that this will contribute to making Bahrain an advanced model that keeps pace with global technology in the field of electric cars.
