Housing, Sustainable Development ministers meet UN’s Deputy Secretary-General

New York, July 21 (BNA): Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al-Khulaif, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, met on the sidelines of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in the United Nations High-level Political Forum for Sustainable Development 2023, to present a review of the country’s national progress towards the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals and achieve the 2030 Agenda.

Al-Rumaihi explained the focused efforts made by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to provide citizens with housing services and shared details about the latest affordable financing schemes that provide immediate and sustainable housing services, in partnership with the private sector.

Meanwhile, Al-Khalif affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s unwavering commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and deepening the integration of the 2030 Agenda into the government’s plan. She highlighted the Kingdom’s innovative efforts to accelerate the achievement of the sustainable development goals, along with the challenges and lessons learned.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Jamal Al-Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations, and a number of officials..
