Bahrain-US political cooperation working group meeting concludes

Washington, July 21 (BNA): The meeting of the political cooperation working group held within the framework of the third Bahraini-American strategic dialogue concluded.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Derek Chollet, Adviser to the US State Department.

Dr. Abdullah bin Ahmed affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and based on the government’s policies led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to strengthen its historical friendship and strengthen its strategic partnership with the United States of America to serve common interests and contribute to the establishment of regional and global peace and security.

The Undersecretary praised the results of the third Bahraini-American strategic dialogue, chaired by Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, stressing the two countries’ keenness to enhance political, economic, security and cultural cooperation, by activating the bilateral free trade agreement, strengthening regional security, respecting freedom of maritime navigation, protecting regional security, and respecting freedom of maritime navigation. Their commitment to bilateral and regional security and shared economic prosperity.

He reviewed the prospects for cooperation with the member states of the Negev Forum, in coordination with the American side, in light of the two countries’ presidency of health care and regional security groups, and their support for the Abraham Accords, in a way that enhances security, stability and peaceful coexistence in the region and the world.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of human rights, amid the United States’ appreciation for the Kingdom’s achievements in protecting religious freedoms and respecting ethnic and cultural diversity, as well as in maintaining first place in the US State Department’s report on human trafficking for the year 2023 for the sixth year in a row.

Derek Chollet affirmed his country’s keenness to enhance its political, economic and security cooperation and partnership with the Kingdom, praising Bahrain’s diplomatic efforts and initiatives to establish security, peace and stability in the Middle East region, and to promote dialogue between religions, civilizations and cultures. He wished Bahrain continued security, progress and prosperity.
