Transportation Ministry, GCC Railways Authority review GCC railway project developments

Manama, July 6 (BNA): Assistant Undersecretary for Land Transport at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Hussain Ali Yaqoub, met with a delegation from the GCC Railways headed by Nasser Hamad Al-Qahtani and Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Sama’ani.


The meeting discussed the developments of the railway line between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia via the King Hamad Bridge, through which Bahrain will be linked to the Gulf railway network.


The Assistant Undersecretary praised the authority’s role in developing the railway sector in the GCC countries and the coordination between the member states with regard to the railway project.


The meeting reviewed the developments of the transitional phase of the King Hamad Bridge project and the developments in preparing the railway track on the Bahraini side and the King Hamad International Station in Ramli.


The meeting also discussed details of engineering designs and meeting points between the two kingdoms.


The GCC Railways Authority was established in 2022, and it is charged with formulating the general policy for the Gulf railway network and coordinating among the member states to follow up on the implementation and operation of the railway project.
